With half the city packing up their denim cutoffs for Sasquatch this week we’ve got festivals on the mind. We’re missing out on the Washington, USA music fest this year (tragic, we know) but we snagged tickets to something that we’ll go right ahead and call the Sasquatch of the North. Squamish Valley Music Festival runs August 8th, 9th, and 10th and features some of this summer’s hottest bands, like Divine Fits, The Heavy, Fitz and the Tantrums, and Childish Gambino.
With over 50 acts playing the 3-day festival there’s a lot to be excited about. We’ve picked our top 2:
Rap sensations Mackelmore & Ryan Lewis will be blowing up the valley on August 9th. We first fell for these lads at Victoria’s own Rifflandia Festival in 2012. They had the crowd jumping to the popular single Thrift Shop, but we think Can’t Hold Us feat. Ray Dalton is even better.
The Heist is available now on iTunes.
The last time we saw Vampire Weekend was at Sasquatch 2010 when they were touring their second album Contra. To this day it remains one of our all time favourite live performances. We’re beyond excited to be catching them on the Squamish stage. Check out Ya Hey from their brand new album Modern Vampires of the City (currently on repeat).
Modern Vampires of the City is available now on iTunes.
