Even us Victoria diehards have to flee the rock sometimes. We visited our other favourite northwest city just long enough to sample a few incredible plates from cuoco, an upbeat and modern restaurant in the South Lake Union region showcasing handmade northern Italian cuisine.
Our top pick of the evening was risotto paired with grilled asparagus topped with fried duck egg, lemon aioli, and parmigiano reggiano. While that would have been enough to satisfy even the most seasoned foodie, we thought it best to taste an array of desserts – doughnuts, tiramisu, chocolate almond cake, and an apricot tart. Yes, all four. Served with warm nutella pastry cream the homemade doughnuts took the cake.
