Ferris’ Downstairs Grill and its sister restaurant Ferris’ Upstairs Oyster Bar have been long-time favourites of ours so when we heard that owners Tom Ferris and Dave Craggs were opening a third restaurant in The Magnolia Hotel & Spa with chef Aaron Lawrence we practically salivated.
Catalano Restaurant & Cicchetti Bar may be brand new but there’s nothing amateur about it. The cicchetti, lunch, dinner, and dessert menus have plenty to offer, including fresh Cortes Island mussels with prosecco, leeks & shallots, and an artisanal salumi & cheese board served with house pickle & apricot mostarda – only two of several locally sourced options on the Mediterranean inspired menu.
To top it off we spotted the infamous Solomon Siegel behind the bar mixing cocktails like the san marco at midnight (fig infused vecchia ramagna brandy, date & walnut bitters, prosecco, honey) and venetian spritz (pinot grigio, aperol, soda, green olive, lemon).
Cocktails, tapas, and a patio with plenty of sun make Catalano the perfect place for summer evenings with friends. A true recipe for success!
