Summer is officially upon us and festival season has finally arrived! Here’s a quick look at just a few of the amazing events happening around Victoria this summer.
VIC Fest kicks off it’s third year tonight at St. Anne’s Academy. The Vancouver Island Cultural Festival runs until Saturday night and features over 15 local music acts, art installations from Wolf/Sheep gallery, and intimate songwriter workshops and circles. With more than 20 Island-based breweries and wineries and 10 local food vendors at the kid-friendly fest, VIC Fest truly is a celebration of Vancouver Island’s finest. Tickets for both days are $55 and can be purchased online at www.vicfest.com. Single day passes are also available.
Tall Tree Music Festival is only a week away. The 4th annual Tall Tree runs June 28th to June 30th on Browns Mountain in beautiful Port Renfrew. The festival presents bands from all over the province and beyond, and boasts plenty of Victoria favourites like Mindil Beach Markets, Towers and Trees, and Sunhawk. We can’t think of a better way to celebrate our nation’s holiday! Fun fact: proceeds from the non-profit event go to the Tall Tree Festival Society in support of local charitable organizations, like the Ancient Forest Alliance. Get three days of music and camping for just $129 – check out www.talltreemusicfestival.com for details.
Rock of the Woods celebrates its third year July 26th to July 28th in the Cowichan Valley community of Glenora. This year’s festival takes place at the Godfrey Brownwell Winery, a 60 acre farm with 12 acres of active grape production and 30 acres of a sustainable managed forest and a salmon creek – the perfect place to enjoy sunshine and over 25 different music acts and DJs! The impressive line up includes The Cave Singers, Hannah Georgas, Acres of Lions, Mat the Alien, and many, many more. A three day pass with camping can be purchased for $125. Visit www.rockofthewoods.com for all of your ticket options.
We’ll see you out there, Victoria!
