let’s all go to the movies

The Victoria Film Festival program is out, and we’re in trailer heaven.  We’ll admit we haven’t viewed every single one, but of the many we have (seriously, lots) we’ve picked a few must-sees.

Good Vibrations  An energetic presentation of chaotic 1970s’ Ireland through the lens of real life record store owner and radical, Terri Hooley.

Finding Vivian Maier  Director John Maloof purchased a trunk of negatives at an auction, only to find some of the most remarkable street photography of the 20th century taken by a meek Chicago nanny.

Aftermath  Two brothers uncover a dark secret that forces them to confront the history of their family and their hometown in Poland.

Big Sur   An adaptation of Jack Kerouac’s 1962 novel about his time in Big Sur.  The film replaces Kerouac’s fictional alter-ego Jack Duluoz with Kerouac himself.

Devil’s Knot  Based on the true events of the murder of three young boys in West Memphis and the conviction of three teens that didn’t kill them.

VFF runs February 7th to 16th.  See the program and get your tickets at www.victoriafilmfestival.com.
